We are all aware of the importance of the internet as a communication vehicle. We hope you have check our Avanta's Website and see all that has been added in recent years. Now for 2005 and 2006 we will be increasing our use of the internet for educational material as well as for connections.
A Registry for and about Satir Practitioners
The goal is to have on Avanta's Website a list of practitioners who identify themselves as using the Satir Growth Model in their profession. This is therefore open to many professions besides counselors. The steps are:

Establish guidelines for the registry and a process for application to be in the registry. For this we are following guidelines and processes from other professional groups that have a registry.

Have legal counseling and guidelines for liability protection.

Start by offering this first to any Avanta member, Institute, Affiliate, Friends of Avanta, and those in our mailing list.

Once this is established for several months we want to open it to other professionals and see what response we get.

This will be a fee charged service except for Avanta members.
Educational Materials
At the moment there are two parts to this project:

Avanta Book Store
We already have our book store on-line and this will continue. At the same time we are working on a format that will show more information about the materials such as viewing clips of our videos, viewing front,/back/table of contents of books, etc. We are also working on reproducing videos in DVD as well as converting cassette tapes to CD.

Information on the Website
The idea is to have a friendly user information of books, articles, and research on Satir that is available. Of course anyone can go to Google.COM and any of those groups and just click Satir and come up with a lot of material. Our hope is to start with 200 to 400 items, specially the finding how people can get this material. It is our hope to have the first group by June 2005.
Communications and Connections
Several of our members are already participating in the Yahoo.com Group that have been started by Stephen Buckbee (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/satirworks/). Last year a European group started a Satir-Europe Yahoo.com group. In the near future, we want to have a group for dialogue and connections for members and the Avanta Board. We are setting a goal of late Spring 2005 to have this project working. After we see how this works there is the possibility to see if there can be other groups that could then have their own discussion and connections.
