Calling for Names for

Living Treasure

One of the highlights of our Annual Organizational Meeting is the nomination and the celebration of "Living Treasure(s)." Virginia Satir in 1983 established the Living Treasure  to honor an Avanta member(s)  who have made a significant contribution to the Avanta and to its mission. Virginia idea was to celebrate people when they are alive. Since the first honoring in 1983 we in Avanta has made this a time for fun, celebration and connection. In 2004 we honored two Living Treasures - Karen Krestensen and Jean McLendon. You can contact them for a more personal story of how the event was for them. The award may be granted annually from nominations from Avanta members that are sent to the Board. The Board selects the Living Treasure from those nominations.

Now is the time to send nominations for the Living Treasure Award. They are due by March 20, 2005. Letters should state the person's accomplishments, contributions, and support to Avanta. Send nominations to Jean McLendon at 87 Elliott Rd, Ste 212, Chapel Hill, NC 27514-5824 or email her jmclendon@satirsystems.com
