September 8, 1930 to October 14, 2005

Anne Robertson Nerin died October 14, 2005 after accepting her death from melanoma cancer as part of living. She was wonderfully assisted in her dying by Group Health Hospice.

Anne Robertson Nerin ws born Anne Sharrett deShazo into an Army family at Schofield Barrack, Hawaii September 8, 1930. Her father's career meant that the family moved often. At Fort Sill, Oklahoma she graduated Valedictorian of her Lawton High School class. She graduated magna cum laude from Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham College). She received her M.A. in psychology from George Washington University.

After college, with first husband Tom Robertson the family moved from Washington DC where the first son, Scott, ws born in 1953; then on to Munich, Germany where sons Christopher and Marc were born in '54 and '56. There she learned German and spent two years at the Munich Jungian Institute. The family then moved to Geneva, Switzerland where Perry was born in 1962. While there she spent two years with the Piaget Child Institute at the University of Geneva. They moved back to Washington DC where Anne received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Catholic University.

In 1982 Anne married her colleague and friend Bill Nerin in a union that served them both beautifully for 23 years. After raising her family, Anne pursued a successful career as a clinical psychologist. She gave seminars, together with her husband, a family therapist, at various institutions in the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia. She also taught graduate courses for 20 years for the University of Oklahoma.

In every setting Anne immersed herself as much as possible in the local culture, enjoying museums, music, history, customs, and geography.

In 1971 she survived malignant melanoma. For 33 years she lived a glorious life of family, travel and careers before her cancer reasserted itself in December of 2004. Anne and Bill explored treatments and decided to accept death naturally, celebrating months of active life till her end.

She is survived by her loving family: husband William F. Nerin of Gig Harbor, son Christopher of Sebastopol, CA, sons and daughters-in-law Marc and Linda of Winthrop, WA, and Perry and Jale of Larkspur, CA and Turkey, loving grandchildren in each of those places, brother Tommy deShazo in Lincoln, NE, and sister Lisaa Willis in Salem, OR.

A Memorial Gathering was held October 29, 2 pm at Agnus Dei Lutheran Church.
