Redemptorist Institute for Spirituality Satir Institute of Thailand are
our newest Satir Institutes. Congratulations
Three
Women by Margarita Suarez. This year we said good bye to three
women: Mabs Mango, Anne Nerin and Lorraine Sando, who although very
different and unique in their own style had a lot in common:
-
All three were passionate about
life and about giving to others
-
All three were involved in
Avanta, IHLRN and with one or two Satir Institutes
-
All three made the decision in
one way or another to terminate medical treatment and to transition, to die,
in a way that honor their lives, and those around them.
-
And all three had their own
memorial service where family and friends told stories of the many gifts
they have received from them through their lives. All three memorials had
laugher, tears, joy and hope for those who loved them.
I want to say a little bit about
each of them here, and then share some of what was at their memorial
programs.
Mabs Mango died of lung cancer, October 5. She joined Avanta in 1999 and in her years
as a member stayed involved and connected. She came to almost every Annual
Meeting except last year when she was supporting her sister who was ill at
the time. Mabs was involved with Institute for International Connections
(IIC) and their work in Russia. Mabs passion in the last few years has been
the work with victims of the Chernobyl tragedy.
Anne Nerin
died of melanoma cancer,
October 14. Anne was one of the founder of Avanta. Although she resigned
from Avanta in 1995, she stayed connected, and even attended and presented
at our Annual Meeting in 1998. Anne has also worked with IIC and for
Northwest Satir Institute.
Lorraine
Sando died November 25 of several infections and other complications.
Lorraine joined Avanta in 1986, and attended almost every Annual Meeting
except this year, when she was ill in the hospital. Lorraine gave Avanta for
an auction gift a painting of Virginia Satir. We have some of Lorraine's
paintings on
Avanta website . Lorraine was one of the founders of Northwest Satir
Institute, and was involved with the Institute until the end of her life
We have been blessed with their
lives, and their gifts will continue as they live in our hearts and memory.
Thank you Mabs, Anne, and Lorraine.
